IB-DP: Your Path to Global Universities and Beyond
Elevate Your Future with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP)
Welcome to the Manchester International School's IB Diploma Programme (IB DP). Here, we invite you to explore the remarkable world of the IB DP, its innovative concepts and methodologies, global recognition, and the profound benefits it offers to our student community.
IB DP: Shaping Future Leaders with Excellence
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) is a transformative educational journey that empowers students aged 16 to 19. It is designed to provide a comprehensive and challenging academic experience, preparing students with the skills and attitudes needed for success in higher education and their careers.
The DP Curriculum: A World of Knowledge and Inquiry
The DP curriculum is comprised of six subject groups and the DP core, which includes Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and the Extended Essay. These elements combine to create a holistic and intellectually stimulating program.
Choosing subjects in the
Diploma Programme
- Students choose courses from the six subject groups; furthermore, they may opt to study an additional sciences, individuals and societies, or languages course, instead of a course in the arts.
- Students will take some subjects at higher level (HL) and some at standard level (SL). HL and SL courses differ in scope but are calculated matching with the same grade descriptors, with students demanded to exhibit a better level of knowledge, understanding and skills at higher level.
- Students must take at least three (but not more than four) subjects at higher level, and the remaining at standard level.
